RTS for Wednesday

EIGHT IN ALL: Talk about having a front row seat to history.

Martha Rhodes, a dental hygienist in the Bradford Area School
District and a member of the Bradford Area Education Association,
got to hear eight candidates for U.S. president speak to a recent
meeting in Philadelphia at the National Education Association,
Representative Assembly.

Candidates who presented their positions on education and the
war in Iraq included Sen. Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Sen.
Christopher Dodd, Dennis Kuchinich, Gov. Bill Richardson, Sen.
Barack Obama and Sen. Joe Biden, all Democrats; and Gov. Mike
Huckabee, the first Republican candidate to address the NEA
group.

COME HOME!: Barney Snyder of Tucson, Ariz., gives us a nice pat
on the back.

He writes, “For a town the size of Bradford, Round the Square is
a perfect column. It is fun to read what Bradfordians from around
the country have to say about their experiences of yesteryear,
especially when I can relate to them. I bet it is the reason many
of us go online. Well, there are the obituaries, too.”

After that intro, how can we resist this: “Can I pitch the 55th
anniversary class reunion taking place on Sept. 21 and 22? Many of
us come a long ways to visit with old friends and I would hope that
many of us can find the time to make it.”

“I already know of some coming that gives me a huge boost. New
M.C. this year. He is thinking of supplying pies to throw at him if
it will mean more people come and they feel it is warranted. The
supply will have to be limited, though.”

Could Barney be that new M.C.?

COKE, MORE: Roy Haynes of Mooresville, N.C., writes, “In
reference to the Coke plant, I lived at the Children’s Home for a
number of years in the ’40s and ’50s and, yes, the Coke plant was
next door. We would go there almost every day and get bottles of
Coke that had damage to them. The people working there would always
look the other way.”

That location seems to be the consensus of those who’ve
contacted us.

BETTER?: When you’re dealing with computers, there’s always bugs
to be worked out. Our feedback indicates, however, that our new
website is improving day by day. We’ll continue to be vigilant
until it is as bug-free as possible.
