CATCH 22: They say no news is good news. Not in the case of
Round the Square.[neWLine]
We asked our Internet readers a couple weeks ago if they have
noticed problems communicating with us through e-mail. A couple
people called to tell us they suspected difficulty because items
they had sent never appeared in the column.[neWLine]
And it did dawn on us that Internet readers, by nature, are a
great distance away and unlikely to reach use by phone or
old-fashioned mail. And e-mail, of course, is not an
option.[neWLine]
We continue to notice a decline in our e-mail submissions for
RTS, and wanted to alert our readers that we are still trying to
isolate the problem. Our apologies.[neWLine][neWLine]
OTHER BEES: Skip Riekofsky writes, “”Yes, it seems, as in the
past couple of years that there is a serious decline in the amount
of honey bees on flowers but also, as in years past, there seems to
be a good ‘hatch’ of bumble bees to somewhat pick up the slack. Ah,
yes, the wisdom of Mother Nature.””[neWLine]
Another reader had this to say, “”I heard about the bees and
read an article recently which said they think the problem may be
cell phone wave lengths, or whatever they put out. Imagine what
they do to our brains. Too much technology for natural things of
the world.ðMakes sense to me.””[neWLine][neWLine]
LOCAL ANGLE: We got an e-mail from Andy Brodis in late May about
a photo we ran of a group of motorcycles with Shiprock Peak in the
background.[neWLine]
He sent along a picture of retired Bradford teacher Therese
Taylor with Shiprock in the background. Unfortunately, our Stone
Age computer system could not open the file.[neWLine]
Andy adds, “”We’ve traveled through most of the U.S. states and
Canadian provinces by motorcycle over the past few
years.””[neWLine]
He also had a comment on a photo we ran of a custom Harley
Davidson that will be raffled off as a benefit for the Kids For
Cancer group.[neWLine]
In the article it states, “”The tank of the six-cylinder
fuel-injected Harley…”” and Andy notes, “”There are 6 cylinder
motorcycles but not any Harleys!ðHarleys are V-twin (2 cylinder)
motorcycles.””[neWLine]
Andy tells us he and Therese won’t be in town for this year’s
Kids for Cancer dice run. “”We’ll be touring Europe and riding the
Alps via motorcycle. So many roads, so little time.””
