RIDGWAY – The annual Ridgway Firemen’s carnival week will be
held at the beginning of June again this rather than at the end of
August as it had been in the past.
Events kick off on Monday and last through June 9 at the
firemen’s carnival grounds on North Broad Street.
The week’s schedule will continue to be filled with fun, food
and entertainment, with the annual battle of the barrel
competitions, kiddie/pet parade, two afternoon pay-one-price
matinee events and the ever-popular parade.
The week ends with a drawing for several prizes, including a
Dutchman 23-foot Travel Trailer Model 18B or 18F, a 2007 Chevy
Cobalt, a 2007 FXDB Street Bob, $15,000 Cash or two 2007 Arctic Cat
4-wheelers with aluminum trailer. Drawings for cash prizes will be
held every night.
There is still time to sign up for the 74th annual parade, to be
held on Saturday, June 9. Because of the construction, judging will
be held in front of the Ridgway Borough building. For more
information, contact Francis McKay.
Advance ride tickets are available at stores throughout Ridgway.
Rides will again be provided by Powers Great American Midway.
The week’s line up includes a kids’ battle of the barrel with
registration at 5:30 p.m. and a start at 6 p.m.; on Tuesday, lining
up for the kiddie and pet parade begins at 5:30 p.m. with the
parade to step off at 6 p.m.; on Wednesday is the pay one price
matinee from 1 to 5 p.m.; Thursday is the Special Olympics matinee
from 1 to 3 p.m. and fireworks will be held at 10 p.m.; Friday will
feature a pay one price matinee from 1 to 5 p.m., a county-wide

begin at 6 p.m., and a drawing to be held at midnight.
Saturday’s events feature the 74th Annual Firemen’s Parade.
