RIDGWAY – Ridgway advanced to the District 9 Class A baseball
quarterfinals with a 9-6 win over Clarion-Limestone on Tuesday.
The Elkers rallied from a 5-2 deficit with a six-run fourth
inning to take an 8-5 lead.
Mike Miraglia, Sam Skraba and Aaron Stenta pitched for the
Elkers, giving up eight hits, fanning seven and walking one.
Glenn Stewart, Grant Romig and Kyle Simpson were on the mound
for C-L, scattering eight hits, striking out four and walking
six.
Stenta (2-for-5, 3 RBIs), Joe Renaud (2-for-3, double, 1 RBI),
Joe Chittester (2-for-3, triple, 3 RBIs) and Zack Hoyt (2-for-3,
double) led the Elkers.
Leading C-L were Adam Plucinski (2-for-4, double), Romig
(2-for-3, home run), Jesse Zahom (double), Matt Hetrick (triple)
and Stewart (home run).
“Mike Miraglia’s relief pitching pulled us through,” Ridgway
coach Mark Morelli said.
Ridgway (13-8) will play at top-seeded Clarion (15-1) on
Thursday.
