SHINGLEHOUSE – Oswayo Valley shut out Keystone 10-0 in five
innings in the opening round of the District 9 Class A baseball
playoffs Tuesday.
Brandon Slater claimed the mound win with a five-hitter,
striking out three and walking none.
Brian Siebert had a solo home run in the third inning to key OV
at the plate.
“We are pleasantly surprised with this win,” said Clark
Cummings, OV coach. “We played Port last Friday and lost 5-0. It
was the first time we were shut out all year. We played very
flat.
“So to have five hits and 10 runs in five innings today was a
pleasant surprise, one that we will hopefully maintain.”
Matt Bashline suffered the mound loss for Keystone (8-8),
striking out one and walking six while scattering five hits.
Oswayo Valley (12-5) travels to Johnsonburg on Thursday for a
quarterfinal round game.
