OLD FRIENDS: It used to be quite a milestone when you had your
50th high school reunion. But get this: One member of the Smethport
High Class of 1927 is looking for other classmates for a possible
reunion.[neWLine]
We hear from Kath Buffington of Belmont, N.Y., “”My cousin, Tom
Sullivan, will celebrate his 80th graduation from Smethport High
Schoolðthis June. Yes, eightieth; he is 97.””[neWLine]
“”He would like to have a reunion orðtalk with anyone else still
alive. If you know where any of his classmates are (or if they have
died), could you please let me know?””[neWLine]
The people on Tom’s list for Smethport class of 1927 are the
following men: Lynn Abbey, Gerald Capewell, Robert Cunningham,
Alfred Gallup, Clarence Gregory, Emery Kohn, Morton Mundy, Frank
Spadafore;[neWLine]
And women: Clarissa Backus, Ada Downey, Helen Fitch, Naomi
Gaskin, Alice Hallwertz, Margaret Hull, Audrey Hyde, Edna Johnson,
Mary Lillibridge, Myrtle Patterson, Margaret Stickles, Ada
Stadholme, Margaret Swanson, and Gladys Tanner.[neWLine]
At least one of the classmates, Emil Johnson, has passed
away.[neWLine]

AT THE HELM: Speaking of reunions, we have an update on the
Bradford/Floriday Days reunion.[neWLine]
Sally Ishman drops us a line to report that Dee and Bill
Weisenfluh of Ocala, Fla., have agreed to take over as organizers
of this annual reunion held in Florida for former Bradfordians and
snowbirds.[neWLine]
Sally writes, “”Ernie and I wish to thank everyone for their
help with the Bradford/Florida Days Reunion. We felt after 10
years, it was time to pass it to someone else.””[neWLine]
“”We wish them success and hope they enjoy it as much as we
did,”” Sally adds.[neWLine]

GAS HOGS: While writing recent columns about the country’s
newest craze to “”go green,”” it occurred to us how many vehicles
around Bradford are SUVs and gigantic pickup trucks.[neWLine]
For a town known for being savvy about gas prices, we’re always
amazed at the number of the gas guzzlers in the region – way more
than people would need for work or winter weather.[neWLine]
Oh, well, it’s better than seeing these monsters in affluent
towns in Florida.
