SHINGLEHOUSE – Brittany Harsen hit a two-run double as Bradford
defeated Oswayo Valley 9-7 in high school softball Monday.
Also leading the Lady Owls were Sabina Vecellio with two doubles
and an RBI and Meghan Hollenbeck, who went 2-for-4 with two
RBIs.
Ashlie Harrington claimed the mound win for Bradford, walking
five, striking out six and surrendering five hits.
“We came out strong and took a 5-0 lead, then we got
complacent,” said Nichole Spindler, Bradford coach. “They fought
back to pull within two in the seventh inning, and freshman Jessie
Mascho came in and pitched to two batters to pick up the save.
“Ashlie did really well today, her control is coming along. It
was a good win for us.”
On the mound for OV was Brittany Kellogg, who struck out three,
walked two and gave up 10 hits.
Kellogg also went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Green Wave,
while Vogue Bernard had a two-run double.
“We played a good game and we almost pulled out a win, which is
a good achievement for us,” noted Jennifer Burt, OV coach. “We gave
up four unearned runs in the first inning and that hurt us.”
Bradford (6-6) hosts Port Allegany on Wednesday, while Oswayo
Valley (3-5) hosts Cameron County on Wednesday in a
doubleheader.
