DUKE CENTER – Otto-Eldred and Bradford split a doubleheader in
high school softball Thursday.
Otto-Eldred claimed a 7-3 win over Bradford in the first
game.
Sophia Tyler struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits on
the mound for the Lady Terrors.
“The first game we played really well,” noted Carl Templin, O-E
coach. “The pitcher pitched a good game.”
Leading O-E were Brittney Price who went 2-for-3 with a triple
and Brianna Price who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
On the mound for the Lady Owls was Ashley Harrington, who struck
out two, walked eight and gave up four hits.
Erin Comilla and Jessie Mascho each doubled for Bradford.
In the second game, Bradford defeated O-E 5-3.
Mascho worked the mound for the Lady Owls, striking out five,
walking three and giving up seven hits.
Michele Keane went 3-for-4 and Sabina Vecellio went 2-for-3 for
the Lady Owls (5-6).
“Our freshmen really stepped up,” commented Nichole Spindler,
Bradford coach. “Ashley and Jessie really did a good job pitching.
We really turned around in the second game.”
Taylor Thomas and Tyler shared mound duties for the Lady
Terrors, combining to walk two, strike out five and give up four
hits.
Brittney Price went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Ashley Burrows went
2-for-3 with an RBI for O-E (6-7).
“Mascho pitched a really good game for her first game ever in
high school,” said Templin. “We had six errors in the first two
innings and couldn’t recover from that.”
On Monday, the Lady Terrors have a doubleheader at Cameron
County.
Bradford travels to Oswayo Valley on Monday.
