Sunday afternoon was a great day for walkers in the Bradford
WalkAmerica, the premier fundraising event locally for the March of
Dimes, held in Callahan Park.
According to Emily Fritz, community director for the March of
Dimes, there was about 150 walkers that took part in the event this
year.
As of 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Fritz said they had raised about
$15,000, covering their budget of $10,000 but less than the walk’s
goal of $20,000. Fritz said with some money still coming in, they
hope to get closer to the $20,000 goal.
“We were hoping for some more people walking,” Fritz said. “It
would have been nice to see some more people, but a few new teams
did come out. We actually had more people last year, and the
weather was just as nice. It was a great day for walking, that’s
for sure.”
The March of Dimes helps fund research, education and community
service programs to prevent or fight against birth defects,
premature birth and infant mortality.
