PUNXSUTAWNEY – Alexa Wilton and Tricia Copeland tripled to lead
Bradford over Punxsutawney 95-55 in girls high school track action
Tuesday.
Wilton finished first in the long jump and 300 hurdles and was a
member of the winning 1600 relay, while Copeland was first in the
100 and 200 meters and was part of the winning 400 relay team.
Lindsay Sherman doubled for the Lady Owls, as a member of both
the winning 400 and 1600 relays.
“This was a very good meet for us against a good Punxsutawney
team,” noted Larry Stillman, Bradford coach. “Tricia Copeland had
her best 100 and 200 times, and Alexa (Wilton) had a good long
jump.
“Our sprinters looked tough, and our two sprint relays ran well.
Ellie Hawkins had her best 100 time and Lindsay Sherman had a good
400.
“In the hurdles, Bobbi Hopkins returned to the lineup with an
excellent time of :15.8. In the 300 hurdles, Alexa Wilton ran an
outstanding time of :45.7 and Chloe Nickel was a :47. We have been
very good all spring in these events.”
The Lady Owls also swept the throwing events, with Brooke
Milbrandt taking first in the shot put, Katie Vecellio first in the
discus and Whitney Cline claiming the javelin.
“Our throwers had the best showing against Punxsy in years,”
noted Stillman. “I can’t remember the last time we won all three
throwing events against them. Katie Vecellio, Whitney Cline and
Brooke Milbrandt are really getting it together. Brooke had her
best shot put by two feet.”
Stillman also made note of success in the jumping events.
“In the jumps, we had another good night in the high jump from
Erica Pascarella, Katie Slavinski and Shea Miller,” he emphasized.
“Shea placed in all three jumps and has been getting better every
meet.
“Our pole vaulters Nicole Irons and Rachel Garges placed second
and third and are starting to come around.
“Our distance runners ran hard against a tough group of
Punxsutawney runners,” Stillman finished. “Liz Keller had three
good races and Marissa Buchheit had her second straight solid race
in the 3200.
“We are working together well as a coaching staff, and that is
really beginning to pay off for our kids.”
The Lady Owls (4-0) travel to the Erie McDowell Invitational on
Saturday.
