SMETHPORT – Emma Hahn struck out 10 and pitched a three-hitter
to lead Smethport to a 10-0 win over Bradford in six innings in
high school softball Tuesday.
Lauren Kinniburgh cracked a triple and double and recorded four
RBIs for the Lady Hubbers (8-0), while Bobbi Mitchell also belted a
double.
On the mound for Bradford (4-4) was Shelly Fuhrman, who struck
out five, walked one and gave up seven hits and six runs before
leaving the game with a leg injury. Mindy Clauser came in for
relief, striking out one, walking four and giving up two hits and
four runs.
“Shelly Fuhrman pitched a solid game, but Smethport was able to
put the game away when she left with her leg injury,” said Jim
Kane, Smethport assistant coach. “Emma also pitched a great game.
She gave up back-to-back hits to Shelly and Erin Comilla in the top
of the fourth inning, the first hits we’ve given up in the last
three games. She came back with strikeouts to get out of the game,
and that decided it.”
Smethport, in the middle of a four-game homestand, hosts
Otto-Eldred today.
