An Eldred man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a
motor-vehicle accident at 9:20 p.m. Friday on Route 246, just west
of Rixford.
A pick-up truck driven by James Roberts, 39, of Eldred, was
eastbound on Route 246 when it left the road “for unknown reasons,”
and hit a concrete bridge, according to Kane-based state
police.
Roberts, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the
crash, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
McKean County Chief Deputy Coroner Sam Cummings said Roberts’
official cause of death was “blunt force trauma to the head.”
A passenger in the vehicle, a 13-year-old male juvenile, was
taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie. There was no information on
the child’s identity or condition Sunday night.
