BROCKWAY – Jim Milbrandt went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a double
and a home run to lead Bradford to a 9-4 win over Brockway in high
school baseball Thursday.
Milbrandt was also the winning hurler fanning four, walking two
and scattering nine hits.
“Jimmy pitched well only walking two in seven innings,”
commented Bradford coach Tim Burris.
On the mound for Brockway was the duo of Anthony Varischetti and
Mike Santaniello who combined on 10 hits, four walks and eight
strikeouts.
Also keying the Owls (2-4) offensively were Ryan LaBrozzi
(3-for-4, two RBIs), E.J. Moore (two-run single), Taylor O’Brien
(double), Cory Viola (double) and Kevin Pautler (RBI single).
“Our bats came alive in the third,” Burris noted. “Taylor got
things started with the double and then (Steve) Butler walked
before Cody Matzner had a bunt-single to load the bases.
“LaBrozzi then drove in two runs with a single. Then after
(Nick) Foster reached on a fielder’s choice, Jimmy’s homer
highlighted the inning.
“In the fifth we scored three runs with two outs. Ryan singled
followed by Foster’s walk then Jimmy doubled home Ryan. E.J
followed with a two-run single.
“We added an insurance run in the seventh with Viola’s double
and Kevin’s RBI single.”
Leading Brockway at the plate were Nate Shaffer (4-for-4) and
Josh Roland (double, 3 RBIs).
“I hope we can keep things rolling at Clearfield on Saturday,”
Burris added.
