DUBOIS – Longtime Cameron County High School basketball coach
Pat Lewis has taken over as coach of the Penn State DuBois Lady
Lions basketball program.
Beginning in the 2007-08 term, Penn State DuBois will field its
first ever varsity women’s basketball team.
Lewis has 30 years of coaching experience at the high school
level with 24 of those seasons as the head coach.
Over the past eight years, Lewis has guided his Cameron County
girls teams to four 20-plus win seasons as well as three PIAA
playoff berths.
During his career he has collected 280 varsity wins as well as
numerous Coach of the Year honors. Included in those were the
DuBois Tri-County Sunday “Coach of the Decade” and the Olean (N.Y.)
Times Herald “Big 30 Coach of the Year” awards. Besides coaching
basketball, Lewis has also coached varsity golf, baseball and
track.
Reflecting on his appointment, Lewis stated, “It has been a
difficult decision to leave the high school ranks after dedicating
my basketball career to the program at Cameron County, but the
opportunity to build a college program at the Penn State DuBois
campus is too good to pass up.
“There are a lot of talented basketball players in the
surrounding area that get overlooked and they should have the
opportunity to continue their playing career at the collegiate
level.”ððððððððððð ððððððððððð ð
