DUBOIS – Zach Burley smacked two doubles and went 3-for-3 with
three RBIs as DuBois Central Catholic defeated Bradford 9-2 in high
school baseball Friday.
Also keying DCC (2-0) was Nate Brennen with a double.
Andrew Welch took the mound win with three walks, four
strikeouts and two surrendered hits.
Suffering the mound loss was Jim Milbrandt, who struck out two,
walked two and gave up three hits.
Mike Pascarella doubled for the Owls and also had a sacrifice
fly RBI.
“We took too many strikes with runners in scoring postion,”
stated Tim Burris, Bradford coach. “I think the first-game bug hit
a few guys, who had some mental blunders. We did not do the little
things well tonight.
“On a brighter note, our guys had some good battles at the plate
late in the game. Hopefully we can carry that into the Ridgway game
on Monday.”
Bradford (0-1) travels to Ridgway Monday. The game has been
moved up from Thursday when originally scheduled.
