Three people were left homeless after a house fire Sunday
afternoon on No Name Road in Corydon Township.
No one was injured, according to Corydon Township Volunteer Fire
Department Fire Chief Doug Cobb.
What reportedly started as a chimney fire at 44 No Name Road
spread into the walls, initial reports indicate. Fire crews were
dispatched about 3:45 p.m.
The house, owned by Mark Havers, was occupied by Havers and his
family, Cobb said. One or more of them were home at the time of the
fire.
Cobb said the fire was fully involved when firefighters arrived
at the scene, adding it seems likely the blaze started on the first
floor of the house.
The fire is under investigation by state police fire marshal
Cpl. Martin Henneman, he said.
The dollar value for damages and items lost was not available
Sunday night, but Cobb said the house was a “total loss.”
Twenty-five firefighters responded to the scene – 12 from
Corydon Township, Cobb said, as well as three engines and three
tankers. The Bradford Township, Lafayette Township, Lewis Run and
Hilltop volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene, where
firefighters stayed about 3 1/2 hours, Cobb said.
