GREENSBURG – The Pitt-Bradford Lady Panthers advanced to the
Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women’s basketball
semifinals with a 56-54 win at Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday.
Megan Richards (15 points), Tai Brown (13) and Amanda Williams
(10) led the Lady Panthers.
“We knew coming into the game Pitt-Greensburg would give us some
matchup problems,” UPB coach Bill Hyden said. “We didn’t play well
in the first half. Tai Brown and Megan Richards were in foul
trouble and on the bench the last 6:30 of the first half. The group
we had out there came together.
“In the second half, we maintained the lead and went back to our
bigger lineup. The kids got into a good offensive rhythm. We did
what we needed to do defensively. It was a good win for our kids
especially with the rough year we had.”
Danielle Williams had 12 boards for the Lady Panthers.
The sixth-seeded Lady Panthers (10-15) will travel to top-seeded
Medaille College (21-4) to face No. 2 Penn State Behrend (20-4) on
Friday at 8 p.m.
