IT’S TODAY: “”The other night I was bored, so I decided to read
a little bit about all the presidents of the United States, and it
got me thinking … how many streets in the Bradford area have names
of former presidents?””[neWLine]
The question from Aaron Wilmoth seemed appropriate today,
Presidents Day.[neWLine]
Aaron answered some of his own question writing, “”I did a
little research … and came up with the following: Buchanan Hollow
(off South Kendall); Clinton Street (off Congress); Harding Avenue
(off West Washington); Jackson Avenue;””[neWLine]
“”Jefferson Street (off Congress); Kennedy Street; Lincoln
Avenue (off East Main Street); Taylor Lane (off West Washington);
Washington Street (West and East).””[neWLine]
He adds, “”and maybe Rutherford Run, off High Street, even
though it’s the first name.[neWLine]
Can you come up with any more?[neWLine]
One thing we must note is that, surely, a few of the
presidential names pre-dated the presidents themselves – Kennedy
and Clinton, we’d bet. In fact, memory tells us that there was a
prominent Kennedy family in Bradford well before John Kennedy
resided in the White House. Maybe the Bradford Landmark Society can
refresh our memory on that family.[neWLine]

FLORIDA NOTE: As promised, a follow-up today on the 10th
Bradford Florida Days reunion held Feb. 11 at Sparton Manor in New
Port Richey, Fla.[neWLine]
Sally Ishman, who with husband Ernie have hosted the event,
writes that 52 people attended the Bradford reunion.[neWLine]
She writes, “”Ann and Dick Kessel gave all of us a packet called
Building the Future from BRMC so we could see the improvements
being done at the hospital. Jack and Magie Gustafson came from
Pensacola, Fla. Tom and Joan Owen, Betty Highfield, Ron and Pat
Mealy, all came from Venice. Mike and Linda Rhone came from
Titusville, Fla.””[neWLine]
“”The oldest in attendance was Glenn Humphrey who is
93.””[neWLine]
Sally also send along a thank-you to Zippo for two lighters
given away as door prizes, one to Joan Fronapel and a second to
Ernie Ishman.[neWLine]
“”I would like to thank everyone who attended. This is the last
Bradford Days for me. So I hope someone will be willing to take
over. Thanks again for everyone’s help.””[neWLine]
Sounds like someone will need to step up to the plate if this
annual event is to continue.
