No one was injured, but a family of four was left homeless, as a
result of a fire at 10:35 a.m. Saturday at 290 South Ave.
Upon arrival, firefighters noticed heavy smoke and fire showing,
and a second alarm was sent out, according to an official with the
Bradford City Fire Department.
Firefighters encountered “heavy fire conditions” in the rear of
the first floor, and the blaze extended to the second floor and
attic, a city firefighter said.
The entirety of the home’s contents was a total loss.
Officials said the house is owned by Strubb Younes, who lived
there with his family -ðSusan, 42, Elizabeth, 17, and Dakota,
12.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family, who apparently
had no fire insurance, he said.
Tower 1, Engine 1 and Engine 2, MA1, MA1A, Medic Unit, the
chief’s vehicle and MA1B responded to the scene.
The Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department stood-by at the
city station.
Fourteen firefighters were on scene about four hours; responders
were back in quarters at 2:45 p.m.
A state police fire marshal has already investigated the scene,
the firefighter said Sunday afternoon, adding the cause of the
blaze was probably a wood stove that was not being vented
properly.
There was no further information available Sunday night.
