The wintry weather contributed to several motor-vehicle
accidents over the weekend, including a three-car crash Saturday
near Aiken that left a Bradford woman with serious injuries.
At 11:15 a.m. Saturday, a car driven by Mallory Stewart, 19, of
Port Allegany, was southbound on Route 646, just south of the
Village of Aiken, when it went out of control while rounding a
curve on the snow and ice-covered road and entered into the path of
a northbound car driven by Ashley Williams, 21, of Bradford,
according to Kane-based state police.
The Stewart car struck the Williams car, police said, and a van
driven by Deborah Gross, 50, of Smethport, was following the
Williams car when it served to avoid the collision, left the road
and hit a tree.
Williams suffered serious injuries, police said. A passenger in
her car, Michelle Williams, 24, of Smethport, and Stewart both
suffered minor injuries. All three were taken from the scene to a
hospital for treatment of their injuries, police said. Gross was
not injured.
Reports indicate Williams was taken by emergency medical
helicopter to an outside hospital, but there was no further
information on her condition Sunday night.
There was major damage to the Stewart and Williams cars, police
said, and moderate damage to the Gross van. All three were towed
from the scene.
No charges were reported.
The Bradford Township and Cyclone-Hilltop volunteer fire
departments assisted at the scene.

escaped injury in the 4 p.m. accident on the east fork of Fishing
Creek Road, about three miles north of U.S. Route 6.
A pick-up truck driven by Heath Alan Evingham, 27, was
northbound on Fishing Creek Road at “an unsafe speed” when it went
out of control on the snow-covered road. It left the road, hit the
guardrails, traveled another 110 feet and hit a guiderail post,
according to police.
Evingham will be cited for speeding, police said. The
investigation continues.
