DUBOIS – Bradford shot 32 of 61 from the floor and had four Owls
in double figures in an 80-38 defeat of DuBois in District 9 League
hoops Friday.
Ben Lanich recorded a double-double for the Owls, with 14 points
and 14 rebounds.
Tom Morris added 16 tallies, six assists and six steals.
Also in double figures for Bradford were Dan Vecellio (11) and
Ryan LaBrozzi (10).
“This was a good performance for our guys, we had four in double
figures and all 10 of the guys we dressed tonight scored,” said
Dave Fuhrman, Bradford coach. “Our guys came out of the gate strong
and got a lot of playing time. This was a good team win.”
Bradford forced 29 turnovers in the win and outrebounded DuBois
39 to 20.
“DuBois is struggling a little. They are a young team with a
first year coach,” Fuhrman noted. “We caused them to turn the ball
over a lot, and a lot of those we got easy baskets from.”
The Owls enjoyed a 46-24 lead at halftime and outscored the
Beavers 24-8 and 10-6 in the final two quarters to secure the
win.
“We’re playing much better lately. We have won four in a row,
which is good, and we’re stringing wins together and playing
better.”
The Owls are currently 7-6 on the season and are 5-1 in District
9 League play.
“I like where we are at right now, I think our team is coming
together, our bench is developing good chemistry and the guys know
their roles now,” Fuhrman remarked. “I am excited about the
possibilities for the second half of the season.”
Fuhrman has said all season he wants the mid-January matchup
with Elk County Catholic to mean something, and he got his
wish.
When the Owls tip off against the Crusaders Tuesday at the Owls
nest, a win would give Bradford a share of first place in the
league standings.
“We have a big one Tuesday night against ECC at home. It’s going
to be a great atmosphere and a great ball game,” Fuhrman said.
