Both drivers were injured in a head-on collision at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday at the intersection of Foster Brook Boulevard and East
Main Street near Wal-Mart.
According to Foster Township Police, at 7:20 p.m. Saturday,
officers received a call from staff at Beacon Light Behavioral
Health Systems Inc., reporting a client, Blaise Zeigler, 19, had
run away.
A little more than an hour later, police received a call of a
stolen vehicle – a gray Toyota Camry – from 32 Derrick Road.
One officer responded to the stolen vehicle call, and another to
the scene of the accident, where he determined one of the vehicles
involved in the crash was the stolen vehicle.
Once both officers were at the scene of the accident, they
determined that not only was one of the vehicles involved the car
reported stolen from Derrick Road, but the driver was Zeigler, the
runaway from Beacon Light.
Witnesses told police the car driven by Zeigler had been
traveling north on East Main Street and turned right at the
intersection, driving into the opposite lane of travel and nearly
hitting another vehicle. The car driven by Zeigler then drove
around the car it nearly hit and collided head-on with a car driven
by Christopher Chamberlain.
Both Chamberlain and Zeigler were taken to Bradford Regional
Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash,
police said.
The Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department, Bradford City
Police, Priority Care Medic Unit and Medic 1 assisted at the
scene.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, according to
police.
Police said no charges were reported initially.
