WINNERS ARE …: “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” took the lead in
more ways than pulling Santa’s sleigh. The animated Christmas
special was the top vote-getter in a poll conducted on our web
site.
Before Christmas, we posted two polls on www.bradfordera.com.
One poll asked for the reader’s favorite children’s Christmas
movie.
Rudolph won with 32.8 percent of the votes.
Others on the list were “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” with
25.7 percent and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” with 20.2 percent.
Lesser-known movies included were “Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas”
at 5.5 percent; both “Frosty the Snowman” and “Santa Claus is
Coming to Town,” both at 4.9 percent; “Nestor, the Long-eared
Christmas Donkey” at 3.3 percent; and “A Year Without Santa Claus”
at 2.7 percent.
A total of 183 people voted.
A tale of a Red Ryder BB gun got the most votes for a favorite
non-animated Christmas movie, the second poll on the web site. One
hundred and thirty-five people weighed in and 25.9 percent chose “A
Christmas Story” as their favorite movie.
The Jimmy Stewart classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” came in second
at 23 percent.
Others on the list are “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”
at 20.7 percent; “Miracle on 34th Street” at 13.3 percent; “The
Grinch Who Stole Christmas” at 8.9 percent; “A Christmas Carol” at
5.9 percent; and “Little Women” at 2.2 percent.
For those who may be a little confused, you did see “The Grinch
Who Stole Christmas” on the list twice. There’s the ever-popular
animated show as well as full-length movie staring Jim Carrey.
