PORT ALLEGANY – Whitney Cline dropped in 16 points and pulled
down 11 boards to power Bradford (7-4) to a 57-38 win over Austin
in the championship game of the Port Allegany girls high school
basketball tournament Wednesday.
“Whitney did real well,” said Doug Lloyd, Bradford coach.
The second leading scorer for the Lady Owls was Shelly Fuhrman
with 13 marks.
“Shelly was diving on the floor for loose balls. She did great
at the line. We rely on her,” Llloyd stated.
Also leading Bradford offensively was Tricia Copeland with 11
tallies.
“Copeland stepped it up tonight. She shot a little better and
she made some big plays,” Lloyd commented.
The Lady Owls only gave up 10 turnovers, which Lloyd credited to
Bradford’s ball handler.
“Nicole Siffrinn handles the ball good. She sees the floor well
and we get a lot of easy baskets from her,” Lloyd praised.
Defensively for Bradford, Katie White had five steals.
“Katie is always on the go. She causes a lot of problems for the
other team,” Lloyd noted.
Making the All-Tourney Team for Bradford were Cline, Siffrinn
and Fuhrman.
The Lady Owls are back in action hosting St. Marys next
Wednesday.
Leading Austin were Rayna Valenti (13 points) and Whitney Crosby
(11).
