BROOKVILLE – It took a half, but the Bradford Lady Owls found
their rhythm.
Bradford outscored Brookville 25-0 in the third quarter en route
to a 55-26 District 9 League win Wednesday night.
“We came out and really played well in the third quarter,”
winning coach Doug Lloyd noted. “We shot the ball a lot better, we
ran well and our defense was good.
“We played with a lot more intensity. The third quarter was the
big turnaround. After coming off a tough game Monday against
Eisenhower, it took us a half to get going.”
Nikki Siffrinn (11 points) and Shelly Fuhrman (10) paced the
Lady Owls (5-3, 2-1).
Bradford held a slim 18-15 lead at intermission.
“Brookville played a great first half,” Lloyd admitted.
Whitney Cline had nine rebounds and four assists, while Nikki
Siffrinn had five rebounds and six assists.
“Everybody got a chance to play,” Lloyd added.
Tricia Copeland threw in five points, filling in for Kate White,
who was ill.
“Tricia did a great job at the point,” Lloyd said. “She made
some big plays offensively. Kayla Murphey came off the bench and
did a nice job. Meghan Perschke started tonight. She rebounded well
and played some good defense. Shelly Fuhrman hit a couple big shots
and played well on the press.”
Paige Elkin led Brookville (5-3) with 11 marks.
The Lady Owls travel to Warren on Friday.
“That will be a tough one,” Lloyd conceded.
