HOLLIDAYSBURG – Bradford fell to 1-3 after a 59-42 loss to
Hollidaysburg in non-league boys basketball Saturday.
Keying Hollidaysburg (1-3) was Phillip Pope with 11 points.
“We got down big early. They were very hot against us. But our
kids didn’t lose their composure and worked themselves back in the
game,” stated Bradford coach Dave Fuhrman. “They were pressing us
at the beginning of the game and we had a lot of turnovers
early.”
Leading the Owls were David “Pug” Fuhrman with 12 marks, Drew
Kelly had 10 tallies and Ryan LaBrozzi grabbed nine boards and
collected four steals.
“A couple of our young kids really stepped up,” Fuhrman praised.
“Drew Kelly had a nice game and Pug made some big three-pointers.
We have been looking for some help off the bench so maybe those two
guys can get some confidence now.”
Bradford was challenged with the absence of two key starters –
Ben Lanich and Tom Morris.
“Ben Lanich had a death in the family and Tom Morris had a
college entrance exam,” Fuhrman noted. “Both of these guys are key
players. We only had eight players dressed. I was real proud of the
kids.”
The Owls are back in action at Elk County Catholic on
Tuesday.
“Elk is a solid team. We hope we can go down there and be at
full strength and play well. We need to get off to a good start at
the beginning of the game,” said Fuhrman.
