FRANKLIN – Whitney Cline had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead
Bradford past Franklin 39-32 in the first round of the Franklin
girls basketball tournament Friday.
Also keying the Lady Owls were Nikki Siffrinn with six points,
five rebounds, two steals and three assists, Shelly Fuhrman with
eight points and five rebounds and Katie White with five points and
four steals.
“Our defense was really what won it for us,” said Doug Lloyd,
Bradford coach. “Coach Morasco changed us to a 3-2 defense, and it
really stymied them and made the difference.
“Whitney Cline played tough inside, Katie White and Trish
Copeland did a great job defensively. Kayla Murphy came off the
bench and did a good job for us, and Shelly Furhman had a good
game.
We went with seven players and we played well. It was a good
team win.”
Bradford will face Seneca Valley in the championship game today
at 6 p.m., while Franklin plays Greensburg Central Catholic at 2:30
p.m.
“Today’s win was a big win for us, Franklin has a good team,”
Lloyd commented. “But we still have to go out and win the next
one.”
