The Era printed a short obituary in today’s edition for a Junius
W. Himes, which read he died as a result of an oil field accident
near Crosby early Tuesday.
According to Elk County Coroner Lou Radkowski, Himes was being
flown out to an Altoona trauma center and died en-route. He was
then taken to Elk Regional Heath Center in St. Marys, where he was
pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m. by a doctor in the emergency
room.
Radkowski said Himes died of blunt force trauma to the

Radkowski had heard Himes was allegedly out in the oil field
doing his job, checking pressure valves, when a pipe came loose,
flew off and hit him in the chest.
