A man was shot accidentally while hunting in Corydon Township
Monday afternoon.
Corydon Township Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Doug Cobb
told The Era his department sent a rescue truck to assist during
the incident, which happened just before 11 a.m. off Route 321 near
The Warehouse restaurant.
Cobb confirmed a man had been shot in a hunting accident, but
referred further questions to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Game Commission press secretary Jerry Feaser referred questions
to a representative at the Northwest Regional office, Rick Macklem.
Macklem did not return a message left for him Monday afternoon,
however, and there was no further comment from the state
agency.
The victim’s identity was not released Monday night.
Cobb confirmed an emergency helicopter from Mercy Flight
responded to the scene and transported the hunter to Hamot Medical
Center in Erie. There was no information on his condition, or the
details of the shooting, Monday night.
Reports from the scene indicate the man was struck by a stray
bullet while he was sitting in his truck.
Cobb said 10 responders from Corydon Township, an ambulance from
Priority Care and a crew from Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire
Department assisted at the scene.
