RTS for Saturday

GOOD BUYS: Ginny Jedrosko is the expert on buying gifts for our
senior citizens for Christmas.

Ginny, who has been in charge of “filling” senior citizens
stockings as part of the Era’s Less Fortunate Fund, put together a
list of items after realizing that many people find it difficult to
know what to buy for older people.

The list might come in handy if you pick the name of a senior
citizen on one of the tags decorating ELF trees around town, or
even for a special older person in your circle of family or
friends.

Of course, Ginny could also use your help filling these
Christmas stockings. She’s called on her co-workers at Zippo and
local merchants in past years but could also use some help from
you.

Ginny spoke eloquently at the recent kick off of this year’s ELF
Fund: “These individuals may no longer have the ability to be
productive, may not be able to support the community, but they
still have dignity. I would like to be able to shore up their
dignity by providing a gift for them to let them know they are
still a valuable member of our community.”

She also said: “They did, after all, provide the base for the
community we live in today.”

Ginny talked to a few individuals who work with the senior
citizens to compile this list:

* Small throws (for over the shoulders or on the lap)

* Large-print crossword puzzle books

* Large-print word search books

* Deck of playing cards

* Mild fragrance hand/body lotion, dusting powder, cologne

* Washcloths, hand towels

* Mild fragrance shampoo

* Small bottles of after shave, disposable razors, shaving
cream

* One size fits all socks, slippers

* One size fits all gloves/mittens, winter scarves, knit
stocking caps

* Variety boxes of greeting cards

* Stamps, sharpened pencils, pens

* Small jigsaw puzzles

* Audio books.

Anyone who would like to help Ginny may contact her at Zippo
(368-2991) during the work day; at home (368-3278) in the evenings
and on weekends; by email at GJEDROSKO@zippo.com; or mail it to her
at Zippo, 33 Barbour St., Bradford.

(Pretty hard to find an excuse not to get a hold of her,
huh?)
