Hahn earns fourth place medal

HERSHEY – Ben Hahn of Smethport captured a fourth place medal
with a time of 16:08 in the PIAA Class AA state cross country meet
Saturday.

“Ben ran second for most of the race,” Smethport coach Bill
Stephen said. “He was passed the last half mile. He ran well. He
went out a little bit too fast and didn’t have enough left in him
to hold on.”

Representing the Lady Hubbers was Payge Colley who placed 176th
in 21:35.

“This was her first time at states,” Stephen stated. “Hopefully,
there will be several more trips for her.”

Powering Otto-Eldred was Chris Bogenschutz placing 18th in
16:33.

“That’s our first state medalist in 10 years,” O-E coach Dave
Eley said. “It’s the second boys state medalist in school history.
It was very deserving because he is a hard working young man.”

Also for O-E, Andy Gaieski finished 244th in 18:50.

Leading the Lady Terrors were Crystal Bogenschutz (105th, 20:56)
and Jocelyn Cochran (128th, 21:08).

“Their times were excellent for a very challenging course. Those
were their best times of the year,” Eley said.

Carrying Coudersport was Emily Giannotti who finished 27th in a
time of 19:42.
