Coudersport clinched the league title with a 25-15, 25-16,
21-25, 25-21 victory over Oswayo Valley in North Tier League
volleyball Thursday.
Jessica Wilson had 16 kills, six blocks, 27 digs, 11 points and
two aces to key the Lady Falcons, while Brianna Vought added 11
kills, 12 digs, eight points and two aces.
For Oswayo Valley, Brittany Kellogg had 11 kills, 10 points, 13
digs and three blocks and Brittany Mertsock had 28 assists.
Coudersport ends regular season play at 15-2 overall and 13-1 in
league, while Oswayo Valley’s record is 14-3 overall and 11-3 in
league play.
Elsewhere, Austin defeated Otto-Eldred in five games 20-25,
25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12.
Powering Austin were Sonni Gordnier (19 points, 17 kills, 1
block, 1 dig), Melissa Sinnamond (13 points, 1 ace, 3 kills, 38
assists), Whitney Crosby (7 points, 12 kills, 4 assists, 1 block, 7
digs), Rayna Valenti (7 points, 2 aces, 10 kills) and Kelsey
Valenti (5 points, 6 kills, 5 blocks).
Leading Otto-Eldred were Brittany Hepfer (3 blocks, 21 digs, 12
kills, 14 points, 3 aces), Courtney Halstead (31 digs, 10 kills),
Mel Schoonover (25 assists, 8 digs, 1 kill, 13 points) and Shelby
Little (20 digs, 8 kills).
“My girls played really hard tonight,” said Mary Gibbs,
Otto-Eldred coach. “It was senior night, and they played hard but
just came up short at the end.”
Otto-Eldred finishes the regular season at 9-9 overall, 9-5 in
league. The Lady Terrors face Coudersport on Tuesday in District 9
Class A playoff action.
Austin finishes the regular season 7-7 and travels to Elk County
on Tuesday for a playoff match. Both matches begin at 6:30 p.m.
Northern Potter defeated Smethport 25-14, 25-16, 25-4.
Powering Northern Potter were Sarah Furman (7 digs, 12 kills, 2
blocks, 1 point), Brittany Rounds (13 digs, 6 kills, 2 blocks, 14
points) and Emily Gamble (13 digs, 7 kills, 19 assists, 10 points,
2 aces).
Leading Smethport were Matti Baker (4 points, 2 aces, 6 kills, 6
blocks, 3 digs), Kristina Schwab (3 points, 4 assists, 1 kill),
Lauren Kinniburgh (2 points, 4 kills, 3 blocks) and Megan Woods (2
points, 6 digs, 2 kills).
Smethport finishes the season at 2-12, while Northern Potter
betters its record to 12-2.
In other action. Port Allegany claimed a win in four over
Cameron County, 24-26, 25-11, 25-21, 25-13.
Heather Stuckey led Port with 11 aces and 11 digs, while Lindsay
Fox had three aces, 17 assists and eight digs, Kayla Raudenbush had
three aces, seven kills and nine digs and Brianna Bizzaro added 10
kills.
Keying Cameron County were Karen Kesterholt (13 kills, 4
blocks), Jessica Ellenberger (3 points, 4 aces, 3 kills, 4 digs)
and Lauren Cook (12 points, 1 ace, 2 digs).
Cameron County finishes the season at 2-12.
