LAST WORDS?: We have tried to curtail our Florida vs. Bradford
debate but we still have a few people left who deserve their “last
word.”
David Chapman of Bradford responds to a comment earlier this
week, “Bradford and the ‘ghetto houses’? The last time I saw anyone
sleeping under a bridge was where? Ahhh, I know, Florida!”
“I too have lived in Florida and let me tell you one thing, I
have moved back and Bradford is my home. I wouldn’t say that I am a
native or anything (raised in Salamanca and moved here in 1984). I
will never leave Bradford again.
“Few more things as well. Have you been to Ybor City in Tampa?
Hmmm? Well, I have been there and let me tell you one thing, I
wouldn’t go there in the daytime much less the night.
“Here? I will walk any of these streets any time of the night
and not worry at all. So keep your ACs running day and night and
run your electric bills out of sight. While me, I’ll stay cool
without one, breathing the cool mountain air. Enjoy your sunburn.
‘Nuff said!”
Here’s a somewhat different perspective from Sheri Deming, “As a
former resident of Bradford who moved to South Florida and now
moved on to beautiful Colorado – I lived in Florida for nine years
and, yes, it had its advantages but it was too crowded and the
traffic will give you nightmares!”
“The city we live in now is Trinidad, Colo. It is a very
beautiful small little town with the nicest, friendliest people
that I have met in a long time. When someone asked me how big it
was I said it is a lot like Bradford which could be why I love it
here.
“It is a little nicer and cleaner here – so come on Bradford
show some pride in your city.
“I know that the last few times I was home I was a little
disappointed in the area. Don’t get me wrong. Bradford will always
be home and have a very special spot in my heart. But I do love the
clean friendly area that I am in now.”
OUR TURN: A question for our friends in those nice, sunny
states: Does the phrase, “knights of the road,” mean anything to
you? Bradfordians would no doubt be quizzical.
