COUDERSPORT – An Austin woman died following a one-car crash at
5:54 p.m. Friday on Route 872 in Austin Borough.

According to Coudersport-based state police, a car driven by
Breann A. Harstad, 19, of Austin, was traveling south on Route 872
when it went out of control while driving through still water. The
car then hit the guiderails on the west berm before coming to rest
facing west.

Police said Harstad, who was wearing her seatbelt, died from
multiple blunt force trauma.

A 17-year-old female juvenile passenger was taken by Life Flight
to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for moderate injuries,
according to police, and a 2-year-old female juvenile was taken by
Life Flight to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The car had severe damage, according to police.

The Austin Volunteer Fire Co. assisted at the scene.
