Owls XC finishes fourth straight undefeated season

BROOKVILLE – The Bradford Owls defeated Brookville 19-42 for
their ninth cross country win of the season and their fourth
straight undefeated season.ð

It was also the Owls’ 39th straight dual meet victory.

Senior Jared Feura took individual honors with a time of 18:37
on a tough, hilly Brookville course.

Shroy Mukerjee ran a strong 19:18, good for third place for the
Owls and led Bradford’s sweep of the next five spots.

Freshmen Michael White and Adam Barnes finished 4th and 5th in
19:19 and 19:21. Rich Bartlebaugh and Mike Foerstner were 6th and
7th in 19:26 and 19:27.ð

“These five guys run together in practice and Shroy kept them
all moving at the same pace today,” BAHS coach Tom Tessena
said.

Freshman Evan Feura also finished in the top 10 with a 19:55
clocking.ð

Also running well for the Owls were John Karrasch who was 12th
in 20:17, Corey Little finished 13th in 21:14 and Patrick Perschke
took 14th in 21:19.

“This was Perschke’s first run in about three weeks so he did
well coming off a foot injury and being down with a virus as well,”
the coach noted.

“Our seniors completed their careers undefeated and that is
something that doesn’t happen very often.

“Now the real season begins and that is of course districts. We
are looking for our eighth straight title and that is what our
seniors really want. Everyone will be trying to beat us. We have
built a pretty good tradition at Bradford High and we don’t want to
let down now.”

Bradford was missing two of its key runners Tuesday – senior
Colton Langianese and freshman Matthew White.

“We hope to get these guys back for the big meet in Slippery
Rock on Thursday,” Tessena added. “This is the Tri-State Coaches
Championship Meet and we will see 50 teams with the top teams from
District 7.

“Our guys all stepped up today and we didn’t miss a beat even
with our number two and three runners out. That is always a sign
that you have a pretty good team.”

Mukerjee was the Owl Runner of the Meet with Barnes getting the
Most Improved Runner.

In 7th and 8th grade action, Fretz (4-3) defeated Brookville 26
to 29.ð

Zach Acton won the two-mile race with a time of 13:16. Alex Fair
placed 4th in 14:41. Jamie Karrasch came on strong to take 6th in
14:48. Anthony Graves and Tyler Carlson placed 7th and 8th in 15:01
and 15:27, respectively.
