Lady Owls’ spikers beat Curwensville

CURWENSVILLE – The Bradford High volleyball team edged
Curwensville 25-17, 23-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-6 Monday.

Leading the Lady Owls (8-7), Caitlin Persichini tallied eight
digs, five aces, 25 assists and 17 points and Rachel Garges amassed
nine digs, three aces, 11 points and seven kills.

Also for Bradford, Lexi Goble had three blocks, five aces, 14
kills and 21 points, Bobbi Hopkins had four aces, nine points and
six kills, Michele Keane tallied six digs and five points, and
Sarah Langy had two blocks and five kills.

“We had our ups and downs and we continue to be inconsistent,”
said Judy Abbey, Bradford coach. “We missed some of our serves, but
once we got them in, we really pulled the game out.

“Sarah (Langy) played exceptionally well on the net tonight,”
she continued. “Persichini, with her 25 assists, was a good floor
general tonight. She served well. Lexi (Goble) served well and has
served well in the last three games we’ve played.”

Abbey also gave credit to the Lady Owls’ opponents.

“Curwensville – give them credit. They are a young and scrappy
team,” she concluded. “We pulled it out in the end and this was
definitely a match we needed to win.”

Bradford hosts Johnsonburg today.
