ELDRED -ðA man was apparently shot in the leg while hunting in
Eldred on Saturday morning.
A McKean County Emergency Dispatch Center representative said
Sunday afternoon that emergency responders were called to Eldred
Borough about 8:40 a.m. Saturday for an “incident,” and referred
questions to Kane-based state police.
A state trooper at the Kane barracks said Sunday afternoon the
incident in question was an accidental shooting of a hunter, and
the investigation had been turned over to the Pennsylvania Game
Commission.
A 19-year-old man, who was not immediately identified as of
press time, was reportedly shot in the leg at that time, the round
apparently coming from a .22-caliber weapon. The man was flown by
emergency medical helicopter from the Ron Houben baseball field in
Eldred to an unknown hospital between 10:30 and 11 a.m. Saturday,
reports indicate, but it was unclear to which hospital he was being
taken.
A dispatcher at the Pennsylvania State Game Commission’s
Northcentral Region office in Jersey Shore referred questions about
the incident to Information and Education Supervisor Officer
Richard Macklem, who was not available for comment Sunday
night.
