Bradford High concluded its regular season with a 4-1 girls
soccer win over Redbank Valley on Saturday.
Meagan Little scored twice in the first half, while Kayla
Murphey and Alexa Wilton each added a goal in the second half to
send Bradford to the victory.
Adrienne Sloan was credited with two assists and Lindsay Sherman
chipped in with one.
Chelsea Rinfrette was in goal for the Lady Owls (12-3-1).
Lacey Blose scored for Redbank Valley. Emily Hathorn was in goal
(14 saves).
“The pitch was a muddy mess,” BAHS coach Tony Doriguzzi said.
“It was bitterly cold so we knew we had our work cut out for us
especially since Redbank Valley was coming off a huge win over our
league rival DuBois.
“We stepped it up and played really well on both sides of the
ball. Defensively, we limited them to one shot on goal and we had a
balanced attack that produced four fine goals.”
For the first time in team history, Bradford did not lose a
match at home.
“Meagan Little had an exceptional match,” Doriguzzi added. “She
scored two goals on great services from wing midfielder Adrienne
Sloan. Katie White and Alexa Wilton did a wonderful job of
controlling the middle of the field.
“Today was our senior recognition day and at the half I jokingly
told our only senior Kayla Murphey she was required to score a
goal. She took it to heart because she buried one into the back of
the net on a gorgeous shot from the wing in the second half.
“Our defensive unit – Tricia Copeland, Katie Vecellio, Amanda
Morrison and Bri Gleason – deserves a lot of credit for this win.
They kept the ball out of Redbank’s attacking third almost the
whole match. They have done a tremendous job for us this
season.”
Bradford will compete in the District 9 playoffs at a date, time
and site to be determined.
