‘Round the Square for Saturday, October 14, 2006

IT’S HOME: Kristie Bentley writes: “”I returned this Sunday
(Oct. 8) from a trip to visit my parents in Bradford. I live in
Virginia Beach with my Navy husband. And as much as I appreciate
all that big city living has to offer a person, the weather down
south is just plain strange to this northern girl.””[neWLine]

“”I don’t believe I will ever get used to the seasons being
flipped.[neWLine]

“”So need I say how welcome the fall color and weather was? It
was a gorgeous weekend in Bradford. Mom and I visited the South
Bradford Fruit Market, a favorite of my childhood.[neWLine]

“”I brought back Indian Corn for my front door and the last of
the vegetables from Mom and Dad’s garden.[neWLine]

“”The other thing I wanted to comment on was the Italian Bread
Memories. Oh, how we all miss Colella Bread! There is nothing quite
like it that I have ever found. That hard, yet chewy outer crust
and the fluffy and dense center. I want a thick slice slathered in
butter right now!””[neWLine]

TV TIME: It was last winter or so when Julie Frick, co-owner of
the Westline Inn, got her “”15 minutes of fame”” when she prepared
one of her favorite dishes on the local Public Television
station.[neWLine]

Well, the folks at WPSU-TV are again looking for cooks to be
featured during its winter fund-raising campaign. This time, the
theme is “”Cooking for Company”” and they are seeking dishes that
can please a crowd.[neWLine]

If you have an unforgettable appetizer, tasty entree, or
irresistible dessert, this program is for you. A selection of
recipes will be chosen to be prepared live on WPSU-TV during the
winter on-air membership campaign.[neWLine]

“”Our cooking shows are a great chance for local cooks to show
off their creativity and skills,”” said producer/host, Charlie
Gudeman, “”We get so many recipes, it’s always hard to select just
a few to prepare on the show.””[neWLine]

And, so, the TV station will also be compiling recipes in a new
Cooking for Company cookbook.[neWLine]

“”After the show has aired, the cookbook is a great way for
every cook in the area to have a chance to recreate those great
dishes,”” he said.[neWLine]

Recipes may be submitted to Cooking for Company, 227 Outreach
Building, University Park, Pa., 16802. Please include a story about
your special dish. Deadline for recipe submissions is Nov. 1.
