Coudersport took a two-game lead in North Tier League volleyball
Thursday with its 25-16, 25-14, 25-18 defeat of Smethport.
Jessica Wilson had 11 kills and 20 digs for the Lady Falcons,
while Karli Duffee had 19 assists and two blocks, Brianna Vought
had seven kills and put up 13 points and Eileen Greenly added three
points, two aces and two kills.
Pacing the Lady Hubbers were Steph Black (5 points, 3 aces),
Megan Woods (6 points, 3 aces, 1 kill), Matti Baker (5 kills, 3
blocks) and Lauren Kinniburgh (4 kills).
“We played well as a team tonight,” said Loretta Lininger,
Smethport coach.
Coudy (10-1, 8-0) travels to Port Allegany on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Austin defeated Cameron County 25-17, 25-16,
25-19.
Sonni Gordnier had 15 points, two aces, nine kills and one block
to power Austin. Also lifting the Lady Panthers were Melissa
Sinnamond (11 points, 5 aces, 1 kill, 26 assists, 3 digs), Rayna
Valenti (4 points, 8 kills, 5 blocks) and Whitney Crosby (13
points, 4 aces, 10 kills, 1 block, 4 digs).
Leading Cameron County were Jessica Ellenberger (7 points, 3
aces, 3 kills, 7 digs), Brittany Grimm (6 points, 2 aces, 2 kills,
4 blocks) and Julia Glosek (6 points, 2 kills, 42 assists, 5
digs).
“I felt my girls played a very good game,” said Amy Schwab,
Cameron County coach. “They played well as a team.”
Austin (5-3) hosts Smethport Tuesday, while Cameron County (1-7)
will travel to Oswayo Valley, also Tuesday.
In other action, Otto-Eldred (6-5, 3-5) beat Port Allegany (3-6,
2-6) 16-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21.
Leading O-E were Brittany Hepfer (27 digs, 2 aces, 5 kills),
Courtney Halstead (18 digs, 6 kills) and Shelby Little (5 aces, 6
kills).
Carrying Port Allegany were Brianna Bizzaro (13 kills), Chelsea
Tucker (12 kills, 8 digs) and Lauren Delacour (10 kills).
“Otto-Eldred’s defense was outstanding,” Port coach Meg Hutton
said. “At the beginning of the season we were playing better
defense. Our offense has improved.”
Port hosts Coudersport on Tuesday.
Northern Potter (10-3, 6-2) toppled Oswayo Valley (9-2, 6-2)
25-22, 26-24, 25-15.
Sparking NoPo were Emily Gamble (11 digs, 9 points, 3 kills, 16
assists, 3 aces), Laura Kalasnik (24 digs, 9 points, 6 kills, 3
aces) and Brittany Rounds (13 digs, 8 points, 9 kills).
Keying OV were Brittany Kellogg (16 kills, 7 digs), Lauren
Donovan (7 kills, 7 points, 4 aces) and Vogue Bernard (9 points, 2
aces).
“My girls played tremendous defense,” NoPo coach Jackie Erway
emphasized. “They stepped up their play. We had awesome fans
tonight.”
