The Bradford Lady Owls’ cross country team improved their dual
meet record to 8-0 Tuesday defeating Kane 15-50 and Northern Potter
15-50.
It was Senior Recognition Night as Liz Keller and Megan Foster
ran their last home meet. Keller placed sixth (22:33) and Foster
eighth (23:16).
“Both these girls have been dedicated and loyal runners for our
program the last three years,” Bob Macfarlane, Bradford coach,
said. “They have put their heart and soul in making the team
successful. We all wish them well in college next year.”
Bradford’s girls took the top eight positions with Sarah Lonzi
first (19:26), second Paige Ambrose (20:58), third Renee Cavallaro
(21:28), fourth Erica Pascarella (21:30), fifth Marissa Buchheit
(21:52) and seventh Megan Prosser (23:03).
“The girls ran extremely well tonight,” Macfarlane continued.
“The course was muddy and slow due to the rain we had all week, but
it didn’t slow them down in running hard. They have had three
quality meets in the last seven days, but they never stopped giving
their best effort.”
Brittni Wiseman placed 11th (24:30) and Kara Piganelli finished
17th (27:00).
“All the girls looked relaxed and confident throughout the race.
Their conditioning is paying off as they are all getting stronger
as the season progresses,” Macfarlane commented. “I can’t be any
more pleased with the way all the girls handle each meet. They are
very focused. They go out and do their race plan with no questions.
They are determined to get stronger each race.”
Bradford’s next meet is in Ridgway on Saturday for the District
9 Invitational.
In middle school action, the Fretz girls improved their record
to 7-0 defeating Kane 21-36 and Northern Potter 25-30.
The Lady Falcons took the first three spots with Lauren
Bauschard first (10:41.58), putting her fourth on the top 20 times
on Bradford’s home course.
Second was Alexandra Szczupak (11:03), placing her number 10 on
the top 20 list at the George G. Blaisdell Elementary school
course. In third was Lisa Lau (11:04).
