Lady Owls shut out Port Allegany

Alexa Wilton and Lindsay Sherman scored two goals each to lead
Bradford to an 8-0 win over Port Allegany in girls high school
soccer Monday.

Also leading the Lady Owls (8-1) with a goal each were Katie
White, Whitney Cline, Miranda Whiteman and Katie Zapel.

Earning assists were Kayla Murphey (2), Meghan Hollenbeck (1),
Wilton (1) and White (1).

“We came out flat in the first half and just couldn’t get things
going,” said Tony Doriguzzi, BHS coach. “We reorganized at halftime
and the ladies came out like a new team.

“We were definitely more focused as we scored three goals in a
minute. The second half was a superb effort on everyone’s part.

“Alexa Wilton scored late in the first half and that gave us a
little momentum. Alexa Wilton and Lindsay Sherman were aggressive
to the ball. They made a lot of nice runs to give us goal-scoring
opportunities.

“I was especially pleased with our midfield play. Kayla Murphey,
Meagan Little, Katie White and Leah Anderson did a phenomenal job
of keeping the ball in our attacking third. Port just couldn’t
penetrate through them.”

Chelsea Rinfrette and Chelsea Colosimo were in goal for the Lady
Owls.

Cortney Barnett was in goal for Port, making 18 saves.

The Lady Owls host Clearfield on Wednesday.
