Bradford High evened its record at 4-4 with a 25-16, 25-22,
25-10 win over Sheffield in high school girls volleyball
Thursday.
Caitlin Persichini (5 aces, 17 assists, 8 points), Rachel Garges
(3 digs, 3 points), Lexie Goble (7 aces, 7 points, 9 kills), Bobbi
Hopkins (10 aces, 14 points, 3 kills), Michele Keane (3 aces, 12
points, 4 kills), Nicole Cappello (4 digs) and Sarah Langy (4
points, 3 kills) sparked BAHS, which has won four of its last five
matches.
“We dominated the entire match,” BAHS coach Judy Abbey said. “We
had great play from our front line players – Goble, Hopkins, Garges
and Langy. We had tremendous play from the Keane sisters – Michele
and Nicole.”
Bradford trailed 12-1 in the second game, but rallied for 11
straight points to knot the game at 12-12. They went on to win
25-22.
In the third game, Goble had six straight aces, “which is pretty
impressive,” according to Abbey.
“Our strength was our serving,” Abbey added. “Bobbi Hopkins
served extremely well. Nicole Cappello and Erica Johnston came off
the bench and gave us strong back line play. They are seeing more
varsity time.
“Caitlin Persichini controlled the game. She had a great
all-around game. We had great team play from Rachel Garges.”
Bradford returns to action Saturday at the Kane
Invitational.
In the JV match, Sheffield defeated Bradford (3-5) 18-25, 25-22,
