GAS PAINS: We are having a very hard time keeping up with the
dropping gas prices around the country – but we’ll try. As of
Tuesday night, prices in Bradford supposedly had fallen by a dime –
to $2.49.
Here are some of our other reports:
Sept. 18, Gus Gocella: “Just a note from Crossville, Lake Tansi,
Tenn. Our gas here is $2.34 9/10 a gallon and at the local Kroger’s
store, if you spend $100 with your Kroger card, it is 10 cents
less. Went to Charlotte this weekend to visit daughter Josette and
family and it was $2.38 9/10. I suspect Bradford has a much higher
price, though.”
Sept. 17: Bob and Krys Crawford of Waxhaw, N.C., (former
Bradford residents): “We just bought gas yesterday outside of
Columbia, S.C., for $2.15, then went a little farther down the road
and the price was $2.13. Let’s hope those prices keep coming
down!”
Sept. 17: Mary McNair: “Gas prices reached $2.03 here in
Virginia Beach today and are expected to hit $1.99 by Sunday.”
Sept. 14: Bill and Rozelle Neely: “Here in Harrisonburg, Va.,
gas dropped to $2.19 per gallon for regular unleaded. The report is
it will be down to $2 by Thanksgiving. (It makes you wonder if the
politicans have anything to do with it since November is election
time.)”
Sept. 14: Bob Wilmoth: “My wife and I left our camp in Marshburg
on Sept. 7 for Florida. After we left Pennsylvania, the prices of
gas started to drop drastically. We were pleased when we hit N.C.
where we filled up for $2.39 and when we hit Georgia, we were
suprised to find gas as low as $2.26 and $2.27. Here in our
hometown, we can get gas for $2.39. I hope you people get a break
soon on your gas prices.”
To dispel any skepticism, Bill Branch even forwarded a photo of
the price at the pump on Sept. 14 in Williamsburg, Va. It was down
to $2.19.
Sept. 13: Scott and Mary Smith, Mount Jewett: “We just got home
from visting Mary’s mom in Toledo, Ohio. Gas on Wednesday morning
was $2.13 a gallon (we figured our cost as $6 extra to refill in
Mount Jewett).”
