Lady Owls defeat Clearfield in four

Caitlin Persichini had 20 points, 17 assists, two kills and six
aces to lead Bradford over Clearfield 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-17
for their second win in a row in high school volleyball
Wednesday.

Also leading the Lady Owls were Rachel Garges (10 points, 4
digs, 5 aces), Lexie Goble (10 points, 11 kills, 3 aces), Nicole
Keane (5 digs), Bobbi Hopkins (8 kills), Michele Keane (4 points, 6
digs) and Sarah Langy (3 points, 3 blocks).

“We played with some intensity tonight,” BAHS coach Judy Abbey
said. “We got down in the second game but came back strong in the
last two to get the win.

“The bulk of our points came from the three seniors – Caitlin,
Rachel and Lexie. Clearfield had a 6’2” girl who was on the net a
lot and Lexie was able to adjust and start dominating again on the
front line.

“We also had great back court play from Nicole and Michele
Keane. Both of those girls step up all the time and make great
shots. We had good bench play tonight as well. We are still working
through some injuries and Nicole Cappello, Erica Johnston, Britani
VanScoter and Carolyn Breznik all played extremely well off the
bench. It is becoming a team effort to get done what we need
done.”

Leading Clearfield was Sara Krahnak with eight kills.

Clearfield won the JV match 27-25, 26-24.

The Lady Owls (2-3) return to action today as they travel to
Johnsonburg.
