PUNXSUTAWNEY – Five in a row and counting for the Bradford Lady
Owls’ soccer team.
Bradford defeated Punxsutawney 8-0 Wednesday to remain unbeaten
at 5-0.
Lindsay Sherman accounted for four goals, while Alexa Wilton,
Kayla Murphey, Miranda Whiteman and Danielle Harbaugh added a goal
apiece.
Adrienne Sloan, Bri Gleason, Tara Coats, Murphey and Whiteman
had assists.
Chelsea Rinfrette and Chelsey Colosimo were in goal, combining
for six saves.
Hanna Fugate was in goal for the Lady Chucks, making 10
saves.
“We started off slow today, but as soon as Lindsay Sherman
scored the first goal we picked up the intensity,” BAHS coach Tony
Doriguzzi said. “These girls know how to play as a unit.
“Kayla Murphey turned in a fine performance. She scored on a
beautiful shot from 25 yards out. It was a laser right into the far
corner.
“I was impressed with Tara Coats. She came off the bench to play
center midfielder and was successful at repeatedly penetrating
Punxsy’s defense. I look forward to seeing her develop this
season.
“Lindsay Sherman was on fire. She found the back of Punxsy’s net
four times and had several other opportunities. She is one heck of
an athlete.”
The Lady Owls are at DuBois Central Catholic on Saturday.
