Lady Owls double up DuBois, 6-3

Bradford upped its record to 4-0 with a 6-3 win over DuBois on
Monday in high school girls soccer.

“The last two games have been incredible,” said Tony Doriguzzi,
BAHS coach. “First we beat Clearfield, the defending D-9 champs
last Thursday, for the first time in our six-year history, and
tonight we did it again with DuBois.

“We have tied but never beaten the Lady Beavers. They knocked us
out of the playoffs last year. This win is bigger than big for
us.”

Alexa Wilton and Whitney Cline had two goals each for the Lady
Owls. Lindsay Sherman and Katie White also scored for the winners.
Cline’s goals were both penalty kicks.

Sherman and White each had an assist in the game.

“Lindsay Sherman and Katie White displayed a lot of intensity
and their unrelenting play generated a lot of chances for us,”
Doriguzzi commented. “Freshman Alexa Wilton played a strong game.
Her first goal was a beautiful volley shot. The whole bench was
impressed by that one.

“I am really pleased with Whitney Cline’s performance,”
Doriguzzi continued. “She was called upon twice to take a penalty
kick and she buried both of them in the corner of the goal.”

Chelsea Rinfrette had 13 saves in goal for the Lady Owls.

“Chelsea did an amazing job in goal,” Doriguzzi admitted. “She
made some marvelous saves.”

The Lady Owls led 3-1 at the half, but the visitors rallied to
tie the game at 3-3.

“DuBois is a physical team,” Doriguzzi declared. “Our ladies
found a way to win. I am proud of the way they persevered
tonight.”

Leading DuBois was Cassandra McAninch with two goals. Kendra
Smith also had a goal. Rachael McMinn added an assist.

Brenna Kreydt was in goal for the Lady Beavers, making seven
saves.

Bradford’s JV team lost to DuBois 3-1.

Danielle Harbaugh had the lone goal for Bradford (2-1) on an
assist by Meghan Hollenbeck. Chelsea Colosimo had seven saves in
goal.

The Lady Owls return to action Thursday in Punxsutawney against
the Lady Chucks.
