Maine woman dies after jumping from moving semi

LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. – A domestic dispute ended with a Maine
woman’s death as she jumped from a moving tractor-trailer truck
Thursday night along Interstate 86 in Salamanca.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office, the
tractor-trailer driven by Russell L. McCrea, 47, of Washburn,
Maine, was westbound on Interstate 86 at about 9:20 p.m.
Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies reported McCrea and his wife, Jennifer E.
McCrea, 51, of the same address, had been arguing for about three
hours when Jennifer McCrea opened the passenger’s side door and
stepped out onto the running board.

Russell McCrea reportedly was able to slow the truck to about 35
mph before his wife jumped from the truck onto the road. She was
taken from the scene by Mercy Flight emergency helicopter, deputies
said, to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where she died just
after 2 a.m. Friday.

The cause of death was ruled massive head trauma.

The investigation is continuing. No charges had been filed as of
Friday.
