McKean County is looking for a new resource conservation technician

McKean County is looking for a new resource conservation
technician to round out its recently formed Soil and Water
Conservation District.

According to an advertisement for the position appearing in
Monday’s edition of The Era, the individual chosen for the role
would report to the McKean County Conservation District officials
and the county commissioners.

The commissioners will be holding a salary board meeting on
Thursday, where they are expected to discuss the issue.

There was no word on what the salary would be for the
position.

The individual would be a county employee, according to County
Administrator Richard Casey.

According to the advertisement, the individual chosen would
implement state-delegated programs, including the Erosion and
Sediment Pollutant Control Program, Chapter 102 and the Dirt and
Gravel Roads Maintenance Program.

The individual will also serve as a resource and technical
advisor for agricultural producers and landowners to meet local,
state and federal environmental requirements. The duties and
responsibilities of the job will also include working with the
forestry and gas and oil industries as well as municipalities to
meet the environmental requirements.

Already comprising the Conservation District are district
manager Sandra Thompson and watershed specialist Heather
McKean.

The commissioners have also hired a new county recycling
coordinator, Mary Williams, and human resources representatives,
Heidi Boser, within the past several weeks.

Both Thompson and McKean’s salaries are eligible for
reimbursement from the state through the Department of
Environmental Protection.

The county has created several new positions over the past few
years. Last month, Commissioner Chairman John Egbert said the
county has gone from 377 employees to 176.
