Holsopple selected forðDrew Cup International Postal Rifle match

CAMP PERRY, Ohio – Aaron Holsopple of Wilcox, Pa., was selected
as one of 12 of this country’s best junior target shooters to
compete in the third annual Drew Cup International Postal Rifle
championship.

The shooters, all 20 years of age and younger, were selected
based on their scores in the prone phase of the National NRA
3-Position Smallbore Rifle Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio.

The Drew Cup is a British National Smallbore Rifle Association
(NSRA) postal match, fired annually by teams of junior rifle
shooters from English-speaking nations.

Teams fire the English Match course of 60 shots prone at 50
meters, under International Shooting Sports Federation rules. A
postal match means that matches are shot at different locations and
times and scores are mailed to NSRA where a winner is
announced.

The Drew Cup memorializes the service and dedication of British
shooter William Drew, a member of NSRA and secretary of the London
Transport Rifle Club from mid-World War I until the end of World
War II.

Once selected, the American Drew Cup Team shot a match for
record involving all 12 team members. The U.S. team had 10 shooters
and two alternate members. There were also a three-person men’s and
women’s teams who shot aggregate scores. The men’s team members
were Andy Lamson, Aaron Holsopple and John Manzano. The women’s
team members were Kimberly Chrostowski, Jennifer Pason and Catlin
Morrissey.

The scores are reported to the NSRA on official score sheets
with each of the three teams reported separately, and must be
signed by the official scorer, an official observer, the team
captain and the team adjutant. Participating nations have until
Dec. 31 to report their official scores and a winner will be
announced after the first of the year.

Commenting on the American Drew Cup team, coach and NRA board
member H.J. Walter, said, “These are first-rate young men and women
– proud examples of good citizenship, good sportsmanship and good
marksmanship. It is a real pleasure to have been selected to lead
them in this further quest for honor.”
